Central Neighborhood Health Foundation
When I took over as CEO in 2018, the clinic was struggling, and I knew we had to make some changes to the way we did business. Our Relationship Manager, Robert Rodriguez, was a godsend to us when we began our relationship with 1st Century Bank in 2019. In fact, because he sits on many boards, Robert has been instrumental in creating partnerships with people and organizations that have helped us expand our reach.
Our business with 1st Century Bank began with a small line of credit, which gave us operational stability while we worked to secure additional grant funds. From there it continued to grow, and today we have millions in savings with 1st Century Bank — allowing us to provide more services to more people in South Los Angeles and beyond.
Although I have a business and political background, my two doctorates are in theology, and I consider what we do to at the Central Neighborhood Health Foundation to be akin to ministry. Every day, I see needs that go beyond healthcare to caring for the whole person. By helping us access capital to open additional clinics and food pantries — and even provide people with clothing — 1st Century Bank has enabled us to expand our impact to those in our community who need it most. I believe in divine providence — and we’re truly blessed by this relationship.
