Bill Anderson is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of First Beverage Capital, based in Los Angeles. First Beverage, formerly National Beverage Properties, is the only company dedicated to real estate capital solutions for the beverage industry. First Beverage acquires beverage warehouse properties and leases them to operators, allowing distributors, suppliers and other users to preserve their capital for core operations and higher-returning acquisitions. Mr. Anderson, who grew up in the beverage business, launched First Beverage in 2004 in response to the industry’s need for a dedicated, long-term capital partner. Today, the company owns more than two million square feet of beverage distribution warehouse space across the country.
Mr. Anderson is the former Executive Vice-President of Topa Equities, Ltd., a diversified holding company and family business started by his father, John Anderson, in 1956. Topa is one of the top 10 largest beer distributors in the U.S. As Executive Vice-President of Topa, Mr. Anderson was in charge of acquisitions, litigation, real estate and human resources. Mr. Anderson also was President of Topa Properties, Ltd., a diversified real estate company. Prior to joining Topa, he was an attorney with O’Melveny & Myers in Los Angeles.
Mr. Anderson is on the Board of Directors of 1st Century National Bank, Topa Insurance Company, and Acacia Research Corporation (Nasdaq: ACTG), and he is a Board Advisor to New Belgium Brewing Company (the makers of Fat Tire Amber Ale). He also serves on the advisory boards of Lineage Capital Partners and PGP Capital Advisors. Mr. Anderson was Vice-Chairman of the Board of Southland Title Company, a Director of Mellon First Business Bank and a Trustee of the Provident Investment Counsel Mutual Funds. Mr. Anderson also was Chairman and is now a member of the Board of the Weingart Center Association, which operates a large health and human services facility in downtown Los Angeles for homeless men and women.
Mr. Anderson earned his B.A. from Bowdoin College, an M.S. from Boston University, and a J.D. from the UCLA School of Law. He is a member of the California State Bar Association, the Washington, D.C. Bar Association and the Urban Land Institute. Bill and his wife, Kelly, have two sons, Max and Spencer.
